Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his initial championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four initial chances in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
