Individual pleads guilty to sex offences involving young males at summer program

The defendant pleaded guilty to 17 charges at the judicial center on the end of the week

A person who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and distributed them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two children who were between nine and ten.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight children and one adult experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.

The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.

The defendant was held in detention before a subsequent court date on late November.

'Candy game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer program which he managed.

The defendant played a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She stated the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in summer 2025.

Mrs Prior KC continued: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.

"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."

The legal counsel explained materials including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the authorities about his worries.

She stated the defendant proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.

"The police had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.

The legal representative stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities once more.

She said Ruben then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five youngsters.
